Wisconsin Man Drowns on Lake Vermilion Monday Night

Man Apparently Thrown from Boat

A Wisconsin man drowned on Lake Vermilion Monday night.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office responded to a water emergency in Greenwood Township at 8:13 p.m.

Two boaters saw 58-year-old Richard Dziewit, of Greendale, WI, treading water with his boat running and spinning in circles around him.

The Sheriff’s Office says he was apparently thrown from the boat.

These boaters were able to pull the boat away from him, but Dziewit sank under the water.

His body was recovered about two and a half hours later by the St. Louis County Rescue Squad.

The incident is under investigation.
