A Twin Ports organization advocating for victims of sexual assault hosted an event to help them with their bottom line.

PAVSA kicked off its 5th annual Barbeque and Cupcake Sale.

Community members feasted on burgers, hot dogs and sweets baked with love in an effort to raise up to $2,000 to help fund their services.

“This event actually started a number of years ago when the state shut down and we were trying to make some quick money to kind of fill in that gap,” said Candy Harshner with PAVSA. “We’ve just kind of kept it up as a tradition.”

PAVSA helps more than 800 victims every year.
