For the last three days middle school aged girls have been putting together a pinball machine at UMD’s Emusement Electrical Engineering and Physics Camp.

Event coordinators ultimately hope this will encourage young women to join science and math fields which are mostly dominated by men.

“Women have a different perspective that often gets lost,” said Caleb Sanderson with UMD. “Working with women can just really push something forward in unexpected ways.”

Last week the campus hosted the event for boys.
