Fire Causes Thousands of Dollars in Damage

Early Wednesday morning, a 911 call around 1 a.m. of a break-in in progress turned out to be a fire.

Duluth Firefighters say, the sounds of the basement fire likely sounded like someone trying to enter the home at 2714 W. 3rd Street.

Duluth Police requested the assistance of Duluth Fire and helped the woman exit the home safely.

While she was leaving the home she fell, and was transported to a hospital for minor injuries.

The fire caused $10,000 in damage to the structure and $5,000 in damage to the contents.

A cause is under investigation.
