Orbitz: Duluth Tops Midwest Beach Towns

Duluth has been rated the No. 1 beach town in the Midwest by Orbitz travel blog.
The company mentions our fine city being on the largest freshwater lake in the world, with shipwrecks and the world’s longest natural sandbar on Park Point that stretches seven miles into the lake.
“The water’s clear. It’s clean. The sand is just like the ocean. You got the sand dunes; water could be a little warmer this time of year, got kind of cold because of the northwest wind blowing through but it’s a beautiful beach,” said Tom Peterson of Clearwater, Minn.
Duluth was followed by Holland, Mich.; Lake Geneva, Wis.; Petoskey, Mich.; and Chicago.
