164th Wisconsin State Fair Opens
11-Day Celebration Underway in Wisconsin
The State Fair has opened its 11-day celebration of Wisconsin agriculture with competition in everything from the finest miniature donkey to the tastiest pie.
Gates open daily at 8 a.m. at State Fair Park in suburban Milwaukee.
Try a cream puff or grilled alligator legs, take a run down the 200-foot slide on a burlap bag, stroll through the barns that house hundreds of animals or take a spin on more than 50 amusement rides.
New this year are some animals not typically found at a state fair.
A traveling sea lion show will entertain the crowds.
Organizers say more than one million people visit the fair each year.
The event runs through August 16th.
