Representative Loses Battle with Cancer

(AP) – State Rep. David Dill, who represented northeastern Minnesota, has died after a battle with cancer.

He was 60 years old.

Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk said Dill died Saturday night.

He said Sunday his friend was diagnosed only about a month ago.

Dill, DFL-Crane Lake, represented Koochiching, northern St. Louis, Lake and Cook counties, since 2002.

He was re-elected in November with more than 65 percent of the vote.

Dill was chairman of the House Lands Subcommittee.

He focused on mining, outdoor recreation, agriculture finance, the environment, natural resources and economic development.

Dill is survived by his wife, Tucky, and their son, Drake.

Gov. Mark Dayton released a statement Sunday, saying Dill advocated tirelessly for the best interests of his district and the welfare of Minnesota.
