Hibbing Couple Identified as Victims of Fatal Crash

Authorities say a Hibbing couple died in a two-vehicle crash in Sauk Rapids in central Minnesota

Sauk Rapids police say the crash happened just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

The initial investigation indicates a car driven by a 22-year-old St. Cloud man struck the side of the second vehicle.

Two people in the second vehicle were killed.

Police identified them Monday as 51-year-old Kevin Davey and 45-year-old Kathy Davey, of Hibbing.

The Davey’s son raced at Granite City Speedway Saturday night and the crash happened on their way home.

Another person in their car was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the first car was arrested and taken to the Benton County Jail.

Police Chief Perry Beise says alcohol appeared to play a role in the crash..
