Families interested in online schools gathered at the Great Lakes Aquarium Thursday to learn more about programs available in Minnesota.
It’s called Duluth ‘Discovery Day.’
The online education expo offered families the opportunity to meet with teachers, ask questions and get tips ahead of the school year.
Online leaders say it’s not only beneficial to those struggling in school but the students who are advancing.
“They aren’t getting what they need at a traditional setting because a teacher has to teach at the average student level pace. So, the students that are excited either get bored or aren’t being challenged enough. So, they can come to us and work at their pace,” said Minnesota Virtual Academies Local Development Manager Jennifer Houghton.
More than 100 families were registered for this year’s event.
