This week, Duluth Police Officers and Duluth Firefighters will battle on the ball field for a good cause.

It’s the 8th Annual Guns ‘N Hoses Softball Challenge.

The ball game raises money for the Northern Lights Foundation.

Ken Larson, Founder of the Northern Lights Foundation, stopped by FOX Sunrise to chat about the foundation and the event.

He says the Northern Lights Foundation provides grants to families with children with life-threatening illnesses.

Larson tells us these funds are used for many things, like medical bills, housing, and travel expenses, just to name a few.

According to Larson, the Guns ‘N Hoses game is one of the foundation’s biggest fundraisers.

The game is Thursday, August 20 at 5:30 p.m. at Wade Stadium.

Other than the softball game, there will be a silent auction, raffles, entertainment between innings, emergency vehicles on display and also police K-9 and S.W.A.T. Team Demos.
