A Superior landmark is getting a much needed upgrade.

After five years of fundraising, Fairlawn Mansion and Museum has finally come up with $40,000 to build a new sign.

Officials with Superior Public Museums said the current sign, built in the 1908s, has a strong lean, broken parts and rotted wood.

“The sign is going to be very well built,” Superior Public Museums executive director Sara Blanck said. “The ground that it sits on is very unstable so it’s probably going to be the best engineered sign in Superior.”

The build for the new sign has already begun.

It’s expected to be finished in the next two weeks.
