Update: Name Released of Armed Man Shot and Killed by Sheriff Deputy

Authorities have released the name of an armed man who threatened Itasca County Sheriff Deputies before being shot and killed.

31-Year-Old Adam Schneider died of a gunshot wound.

The deputy who took action and fired was Deputy Stephen Snyder.

Snyder has been with the sheriff’s office for four years and has been placed on administrative leave. 

According to authorities they responded to a disturbance call in the 400 block of 2nd Street NW in Cohasset at 2:49 a.m.

When deputies arrived they were confronted by a man with gun.

The man threatened the deputies with the gun and was shot by a deputy sheriff.

The man was transported by ambulance to the Grand Itasca Hospital where he died.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the incident.

The name of the deceased and the deputy involved in the shooting will be released at a later date.
