Man throws a rock at police, leads them on a chase

Suspect arrested in Hermantown

A man is in custody after assaulting a police officer and leading authorities on a foot chase Saturday afternoon.

Proctor Police responded to a report of suspicious activity on 1st Street between N Boundary Avenue and N 1st Avenue.

A resident had reported a white male had been on their deck and had tried the door handle of a neighbor’s car.

Another caller reported the suspect threw a rock at them as they drove by.

The Proctor Officer responding also received additional reports of disturbing conduct from residents as he neared the scene.

The suspect was located and uncooperative with the Officer, throwing a large rock at him and fleeing.

The Officer pursued him on foot through a heavily wooded area. Assisting squads from the Hermantown Police Department set up a perimeter directed by the Proctor Officer’s updates.

A Hermantown Officer saw the suspect cross north on the St. Louis River Rd in the 8200 Block and gave foot pursuit through the woods until the end.

During the pursuit the suspect was seen entering and then leaving a home.

The foot pursuit terminated in the yard of a residence on Little Creek Pl in Hermantown.

A 22 year old white male was arrested and lodged at St Louis County Jail on charges of 1st Degree Burglary and 4th Degree Assault on a Police Officer (for the rock throwing) and motor vehicle tampering.

No one was injured during the incident.

Drug use may have been involved in this incident.
