Bills targeting Planned Parenthood Funding up for Hearing

A Republican bill to block federal money from going to Planned Parenthood in Wisconsin is up for a public hearing.

The Assembly Health Committee was scheduled to hear the measure on Wednesday, along with another bill that would restrict how much Planned Parenthood can be reimbursed for prescription drugs from the federal government.

Both are sponsored by abortion opponent Rep. Andre Jacque, of De Pere. He is also sponsoring another measure to ban the use of aborted fetal tissue in research at the University of Wisconsin.

Gov. Scott Walker has said he supports blocking federal money from going to Planned Parenthood in Wisconsin.

Both bills combined would block about $7.5 million in federal funding going to Planned Parenthood each year.
