Upper Lakes Foods Makes Commitment to Second Harvest

Hunger Action Month is Underway

The start of September means the kick off of Hunger Action Month.

To honor the month, Upper Lakes Foods is making a major commitment to Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank.

They’ve been partners for many years, but Wednesday morning they pledged $15,000 to the food bank.

Each year, Upper Lakes Foods provides more than 169,000 meals to Northlanders in need.

“Today in the Northland, one in six people do not know when or where they’ll receive their next meal. Many of those are senior citizens, even more are children,” said Shaye Moris, Executive Director for Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank.

The $15,000 will be given to Second Harvest over three years with the food bank receiving $5,000 each year.
