Highway Resurfacing Project Starting in Hermantown

Highway Project will Mean Smoother Roads for Motorists

Motorists traveling on Highway 53 in Hermantown will encounter lane restrictions between Walmart and Cirrus Drive beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8 as a resurfacing and accessibility improvement project gets underway.

MnDOT’s contractor will first work on ADA improvements and signal system upgrades.

Traffic will be restricted to a single lane with most work occurring at the intersections of Arrowhead Road, Stebner Road and Cirrus Drive.

Turn lanes will be closed periodically while they are being worked on.

Motorists can expect delays.

Highway 53 will also be repaved from south of Haines Road to just south of the Midway Road.

The project is expected to be complete in late October 2015.

The finished project will provide a smoother road surface, improved accessibility and safety.
