Despite a lack of rain this summer Bayfield Apple Company said the season is off to a great start.

They have more than 40-acres and offer 17 different varieties at the orchard.

Only a few of the apples are ripe just yet, but within the next two weeks it will be prime picking for popular flavors like McIntosh and Honeycrisp.

“My personal favorite for baking is Courtland. They’re both firm and tart so when you add the sugar to the recipe then you get the sweet and the tart, so Courtland’s are always my favorite,” said Bayfield Apple Company’s Marketing Manager Missy Morin.

The apple orchard is open daily for picking.
