Former Lt. Governor Yvonne Prettner Solon says after reviewing candidates for the 5th district seat, she has decided to endorse Janet Kennedy.

Solon says she is supporting Kennedy because of her community service, deep roots in the western neighborhoods and leadership skills.

“She has the strength and the depth of character to make tough decisions and to represent the people in the fifth district very well,” said Solon.

“I’m running for city council because its time,” said Kennedy. “It’s time for a leadership that takes initiative and is proactive in solving problems and addressing our needs.”

If elected Kennedy will focus more on health disparities, affordable housing and other issues.

The primary is happening next Tuesday, September 15th.
