The College of St. Scholastica entered a race against 56 other schools across the nation to become America’s most outdoorsy school.

“The whole purpose behind it is to get people outside.” said Shawn Olesewski of the College of St. Scholastica.

He said that it was important to get people away from their electronics, and to interact with nature.

According to the rules, every time a registered participant performs an outdoor activity and logs it, St. Scholastica gets 10 points.

Each person can log up to five activities a day.

Activities include anything from canoeing, rock climbing, and slacklining, to relaxing in a hammock outside. And it’s not just for students.

“Anybody in the community that wants to participate can also register through oncampuschallenge.org, and they can just select that they are a community member and select the college of St. Scholastica as the school they’re representing, and all of their activities will go towards our total.” said Olesewski.

If St. Scholastica wins, the school will receive outdoor and camping gear.

The best performer of the winning school will also win gear.
