A one–of–a–kind drag race is getting ready to take over Garfield Avenue in Duluth this weekend.

The Kia of Duluth Drag Races and Car Show is gearing up for its 10th year, where 110 competitors from all over the Midwest will race head to head.

Organizers say drag racing is always done on a track, but this race steers clear from the norm.

“It is basically what we say is ‘illegal drag racing on a public street,’ that we make legal for two days on Garfield Avenue in Duluth,” said Ryan Kern, President of Kernz & Kompany.

350 vehicles will also participate in a car show.

Gates open at 8 AM both Saturday and Sunday, the races start at 10 AM at the intersection of Railroad Street and Garfield Avenue, you can only enter on the Duluth side by taking Superior St.

Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for kids 12 and under.
