Local Festival Highlights Sustainability

The 22nd annual Harvest Festival featured about 60 farmers markets with locally grown produce and treats at Bayfront Park.

Art work, animals and tackling climate change were also part of the fun.

“The core message here is that we have an incredible ability to support our own local economy through farming and renewable energy,” Harvest Festival director Clare Hintz said. “We lose about $2 billion dollars a year because we don’t buy enough local food.”

Thousands of people come to the Harvest Festival every year.
