Upgraded St. Louis County Government Center Hosts Open House

The St. Louis County Board joined project contractors Tuesday to host a ribbon cutting and open house for the county’s new Government Center.

The county purchased the 32-year-old building from the state for $3.2 million in 2002, but part of the deal was that the state could be in the building for 10 years as a lease holder.

The building had design and air quality issues, but they were able to fix those problems through redesigning.

The building now holds 600 county employees from departments that were previously spread across five buildings throughout downtown Duluth.
