The Northland Heart Walk will honor a stroke survivor at their walk Saturday.

Christian England-Sullivan is a student at University of Minnesota of Duluth. He had a life-changing experience in April.

One morning before his run, he had a brain stem stroke. The mortality rate is 80 percent for this kind of stroke.

Now, just five months later, Christian is back walking and attending classes at UMD. He is studying to become an elementary and special education teacher.

There will also be booths set up offering heart health tips.

The course is 1 or 3 miles at Malosky Stadium at UMD.

The walk is Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. (Ceremonies at 8:45 a.m.; Walk follows at 9:00 a.m.)
