Happiness, bright pigments and glitter filled Bayfront Park Sunday.

The Color Run, which is one of the largest event series in history, held a race there.

About 2,000 people walked and ran the 5K looping around Harbor Drive and Railroad Street and were then doused with color.

“The reason why we do it, it is like the happiest 5K on the planet, that’s our motto,” Color Run sponsorship coordinator Rebekah Elton said. “We want to make people have fun and get active. Get healthy, go out and just have a great time.”

Some of the proceeds from the race will go the Shriners Hospitals for Children in the Twin Cities.

Last year, the Color Run hosted events in more than 30 countries and nearly 300 cities worldwide.
