Duluth’s top two mayoral candidates faced off in a forum Thursday morning.
Emily Larson and Chuck Horton responded to six pre-selected questions, as well as general inquiries from the audience.
Some of the topics included tax increment funding, tourism growth, maintaining Duluth’s national recognition as an outdoor city, as well as the candidate’s focus.
“I am running for mayor because I really believe in the direction that we have set out for ourselves in the last five to ten years. Right now in Duluth we have currently under way or in the pipeline $2 billion of construction projects,” said Duluth mayoral candidate Emily Larson.
“We have to start looking at ourselves in a much deeper way than business. We have to start realizing what is the business of tourism and we are going to have start realizing about the kids in our town and I look forward to bringing that to the forefront,” said Duluth mayoral candidate Chuck Horton.
The forum was hosted by the Canal Park Business Association.
The Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce will host a forum October 13.
