Boat Capsizes, 3 Teens Rescued on Fish Lake
Three Northland teenagers are lucky to be alive after their boat capsized.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office was called at 4:33 a.m. Sunday to a report of three, 17-year-old boys on Fish Lake in Fredenberg Township.
The teens were heading up the river to duck hunt when their boat took on water and capsized.
Two of the teens swam to shore using their decoys as flotation devices and the third juvenile hung onto the boat.
Deputies picked up all three victims with a boat and Gold Cross Ambulance Service treated and released them at the scene.
There were flotation vests in the boat, but the teens were not wearing them, according to authorities.
Two of the victims are Duluth residents and the other is from Wisconsin.
This incident remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.
