A Northland woman with nearly five decades nursing experience is headed to South Carolina.

Mary Robertson is leaving her Cloquet home, Tuesday, for a two week deployment with the American Red Cross Serving Northern Minnesota.

Robertson has 47 years of nursing experience.

Robertson retired from her nursing position in May and took up volunteering with agencies like the American Red Cross to fill her time.

The trip to South Carolina will be Robertson’s first deployment with the Red Cross.

Robertson said she is going to South Carolina to provide whatever relief she can to people who have lost so much to the recent storms.

She will be serving with the Red Cross in the Columbia, South Carolina area as a Disaster Health Services volunteer
