Michigan Woman is $310 Million Dollars Richer

A 50-year-old fiberglass factory supervisor from Three Rivers, Michigan is the winner of a $310.5 million dollar powerball jackpot.

Julie Leach said she bought around $20 worth of lottery tickets last Wednesday at the Shell Gas Station in Three Rivers.

She said in a news conference Tuesday she was having a “bad night” at work when she took a lunch break at McDonald’s and checked her Powerball numbers, confirming she had just become a multi-millionaire.

Leach said she quit her “nasty, dirty job” immediately at the fiber glass factory.  Her longtime boyfriend also quit his job.

She says she didn’t sleep for 30 hours after learning she had won.

Leach plans on using part of the money to buy a large chunk of land to build a home for each member of her family.  She says she is going to take care of her children and eleven grandchildren.

Leach plans on taking the money in one lump sum of $197 million dollars before taxes.  She is working with a lawyer and a financial planner.

Wednesday’s winning numbers were 21,39,40,55 and 59 with a Powerball of 17.

The Michigan lottery says this is the second-largest jackpot this year.
