The Lake Superior Zoo is officially ready for Halloween.

This morning, a crew unloaded a 450-pound pumpkin – just in time for its annual “Boo at the Zoo” celebration.

Boo at the Zoo is an event that includes trick or treating around the zoo and Halloween-themed games.

The giant pumpkin’s grower says it’s not easy growing a gourd that big, but he loves doing it.

“You just prepare the soil – a lot of compost and manure, a lot of water,” said grower Dan Tanner. “And there’s a lot of little details also, but I won’t go into all of them.”

Boo at the Zoo will be both October 10 and 17, from 10:00am until 4:00 in the afternoon.
