UMD Hosts National Coming Out Day Luncheon

Students, Faculty, and Community Members Gather to Celebrate

The University of Minnesota Duluth’s Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Commission hosted a luncheon to Celebrate an early National Coming Out Day, which is actually on October 11th.

Students, faculty members, and members of the community gathered at the Kirby Student Center to enjoy food, and to listen to speakers.

“There are still people who are discriminated against because of their sexual orientation, and especially because of their gender identity.” said Kathy Heltzer, a faculty member of the Department of Social Work.

National Coming Out Day is an internationally observed civil awareness day to celebrate coming out as LGBTQ.
