Deer River Man Pleads Guilty to Assault, Threats Charges

A Deer River man has pleaded guilty to charges of assault and making violent threats in connection to an incident at a Grand Rapids hotel in August.

As part of a plea agreement, 19-year-old Dylan Wise entered a guilty plea to one count of felony Second Degree Assault and one count of Threats of Violence.

The charges stem from an incident at the Rapids Hotel on August 4 where Wise allegedly assaulted the hotel clerk with a knife.

Wise later threatened a Grand Rapids Officer and his family.

Under the terms of the plea agreement, Wise will be placed on five years of supervised probation for each charge.

As part of his probation he must serve six months in the Itasca County Jail, pay $1, 135 in fines, and have no contact with the victims or Hotel Rapids.

Sentencing is set for November 23.
