Police Searching for Missing Man in Gogebic County

Police are searching for an Illinois man missing in Gogebic County . 

Authorities say the vehicle belonging to 71-year-old John Niesman was found in a parking lot in Imp Lake, just east of Watersmeet, Michigan on Wednesday night. 

Glen was reported missing on October 11. Hotel staff reported that he never returned to his room in Land O’Lakes, Wisconsin.  

Authorities learned Glen often frequents the Gogebic and Ontonagon area during the fall color season. 

The Lac Vieux Desert Tribal Police and the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office conducted a land and water search of the area where Glen’s vehicle was found. 

A more extensive search began Thursday morning, with a canine unit from the Gladstone State Police post called in to assist.  

The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office, The Lac Vieux Desert Tribal Police, The Vilas County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, the US Forest Service and the Gogebic County Search and Rescue Team are all assisting in the search.
