Fire Destroys Hermantown Assisted Living Facility

A fire destroyed an assisted living in Hermantown Friday afternoon.

Firefighters were called out to Superior View Assisted Living at 4266 Lavaque Road just after 3:30 Friday on reports of the facility engulfed in flames.

Authorities say two off-duty Hermantown firefighters spotted the flames and called in the fire.

According to Hermantown Police Sergeant William Marsolek,  the duo, along with him and two other police officers, worked with staff at the assisted living facility to safely evacuate fourteen residents.

Sergeant Marsolek says some staff may have suffered smoke inhalation during the rescue, however there were no serious injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The property suffered extensive damage.
