Police: Missing Woman Did Not Leave Voluntarily

Investigators in Pope County say they believe an 18-year-old missing for a week did not leave voluntarily.

Authorities in Pope and Douglas County are continuing to investigate the disappearance of Laura Scwendemann, who went missing on October 14.

Schwendemann was last seen in Alexandria, Minnesota.

Developing information has lead police to believe she did not leave on her own. They do say, however, there is no ongoing risk to public safety.

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a vehicle which may be tied to this case.  Authorities are searching for a 1997 black Geo Prism with a loud exhaust.  The car was last seen between Wednesday, October 14 at 9:30 p.m. and Thursday October 15th at 10:30 a.m.

Anyone with information on Schwendemann’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at 320-762-8151 or the Pope County Sheriff’s Office at 320-634-5411.
