Public Asked to Weigh in on Allowing Vendors on Lakewalk
Duluth Puts Out Survey on Commercial Activity on Lakewalk
The city of Duluth is considering allowing vendors on the Lakewalk but they want to get the public’s input first.
The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation Department is currently reviewing the establishment of criteria and processes for reviewing, approving and permitting appropriate commercial activities along the Lakewalk Trail corridor from Canal Park to Brighton Beach, with a focus on the area between Canal Park and Leif Erikson Park.
The public is encouraged to provide input for this Lakewalk Study using an online questionnaire which will help shape the creation of policies regulating commercial
activity and establishing a process to review and approve such activity along the Lakewalk to ensure an enjoyable experience for all
users.
This questionnaire will help the City of Duluth:
– Define user expectations of the Lakewalk experience.
– Determine what commercial services are appropriate and necessary to enhance the Lakewalk user experience.
– Determine guidelines for the development of a management strategy for governing commercial use along the Lakewalk.
The Lakewalk Study survey is accessible at, https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Lakewalk or by visiting the Duluth Parks and Recreation webpage at, http://www.duluthmn.gov/parks/
The online survey will be available for several weeks.
A summary of the comments will be provided at a later date on the Duluth Parks webpage.
