The Duluth City Council unanimously approved the demolition of 16 condemned homes, Monday night. 

The buildings are spread across the city from 14th Avenue East to 131st Ave West. 

City Building Inspectors declared the buildings unfit for human habitation, the physical structures are eligible for demolition because they have degraded to 40% of their previous value. 

City Planning and Construction Director, Keith Hamre said the City hopes to submit contract bids to the City Council in December.

The City has authorized $340,000.00 to demolish the 16 homes.

Any costs incurred by The City will be placed onto the property taxes of the homeowners.
