Police Make Arrest in Ashland Church Fire

Police have arrested a man in connection to a weekend church fire.

The flames broke out around 8:30 p.m. at the Salem Baptist Church.

According to the Ashland Fire Department, 35 firefighters were on scene for about two and a half hours fighting the flames.

No one was injured.

The Ashland Fire Department would not confirm if they are conducting an arson investigation.

The building is a total loss.

FOX 21 does not name suspects until they are formally charged.

Church members spent time praying together Sunday as they prepare to start making plans on how to move forward.

They have also set up a GoFundMe page.
