Anoka Police Investigating Report of Child Abduction

Anoka Police are investigating reports of a child abduction Monday after a 10-year-old boy says he was grabbed and thrown into a van, but managed to escape.

Police responded to the incident around 5:30 Monday night.

According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, the boy reported he was walking in the area of the 600 Block of Brisbin Street in Anoka when someone grabbed him in a bear hug and placed him into a black or dark colored cargo van.

The boy said he was able to push open a rear door of the van and escaped in the parking lot of Chipotle at Riverdale Crossings.  He told police he fled to the Buffalo Wild Wings next door and called his mother to report the abduction.

There is no description of any suspect at this time.

The child stayed home from school Monday and left the house without his parent’s permission.

Police say they are working to validate portions of the information provided by the child and his family.
