The Target store in Superior will close it’s doors at the beginning of the year.

Jed Anderson, a manager at Target in Superior, confirmed that the store will be closing January 30.

Employees were notified Monday.

The Superior Target, located at 3535 Tower Avenue, employs 85 people.

All team members will have the option to transfer to the Duluth, Minnesota store.

A spokesman for Target Corporate Communications says the company announced 13 store closures for 2016.

“The decision to close a Target store is not made lightly.  We typically decide to close a store after careful consideration of the long-term financial performance of a particular location.  Typically, the decision to close a store is as a result of seeing several years of decreasing profitability,” said Kristy Welker with Target Corporate Communications.
