The Lake Superior Marine Museum Association is hosting their 28th annual Gales of November.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

The Gales of November will feature speakers and panel discussions about the tragic event.

“This is our culture, this is who we are,” said Tammy Sundbon Otterson, the Executive Director of Lake Superior Marine Museum Association.

“Duluth exists because of the large body of water out here and preserving that history and honoring that is so important because if we don’t look at the past don’t honor the past, how do you look at the future?”

The event kicks off at noon on Friday and and will continue at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center.
