The first lawsuit has been filed in connection to an e-coli outbreak at dozens of Chipotle restaurants in the northwest.

The woman who filed the suit says she fell violently ill shortly after eating at a Chipotle in Vancouver, Washington last month.

She’s seeking at least $75,000 in her federal lawsuit.

Chipotle closed 43 locations in Washington State and Oregon after health officials linked 22 e-coli cases to several eateries.

American adults are using more prescription drugs.

From 1999 through 2012, use increased from 51 percent to 59 percent.

The biggest increase was in people ages 40-64 and 65 and older.

Eight of the top 10 prescription drugs used were to treat diseases like hypertension, high lipid levels and diabetes.

Exposure to dogs or farm animals early in life appears to reduce a child’s risk of developing asthma.

A study out of Sweden found kids who grew up with dogs cut their risk for the condition by 15 percent.

Experts say while the study can’t prove that animal interaction definitely reduces asthma risk, it does support what’s known as the ‘hygiene hypothesis.’

That’s where exposing children to microbes may support the development of a healthy immune system.
