Hibbing Garage a Total Loss after Fire

A garage in Hibbing is considered a total loss after a fire ripped through it Thursday morning. 

The Hibbing Fire Department responded to the blaze at 11472 Highway 37 around 10:15 Thursday morning. 

The garage was engulfed in flames when crews arrived. 

Firefighters battled the blaze for about an hour. 

Crews remained on scene for several hours putting out hot spots, while an excavator was used to remove debris. 

Damage estimates sit at $80,000. 

The homeowner was in the garage when the fire broke out, but was not injured. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but authorities say it does not appear suspicious in nature.  

Multiple agencies including the Chisholm and Keewatin Fire Departments, assisted in putting out the fire.
