Wanted Level 3 Sex Offender Arrested in Illinois

A Level 3 sex offender who was wanted by authorities in Minnesota after cutting off his GPS device, has been arrested in Illinois.

Police arrested 34-year-old Rico Ronondo Rodriguez Thursday in Belleville, Illinois after finding his car at an apartment building.

A national warrant was issued for Rodriguez on October 26 after police say he cut off his GPS device and fled a halfway house he was staying at in Minneapolis.

Rodriguez was taken into custody without incident, and is being held in the St. Clair County Jail.

Rodriguez has an extensive criminal record including convictions of criminal sexual conduct.  He was sentenced to prison in 2003 for criminal sexual conduct against a known juvenile female.   He also went back to prison in 2012 after failing to register as a sex offender.
