Two hospitals in Duluth are holding holiday-themed fundraising sales at their gift shops this week.

Essential Health St. Mary’s is selling Christmas gifts and religious items in the 2nd Floor auditorium.

They hope to sell out of their stock.

All the funds raised will benefit their pediatric solarium, a space for their teenage and young adult patients to go relax.

“We go to market in January and try to pick out some good items and to see those items walk out the door and make profits for Essentia is a very good feeling,” said St. Mary’s gift shop manager Beth Witte.

Essentia is having several sales at once:

St. Mary’s sale is at the Medical Center Auditorium started Thursday, and continues on Nov. 6 from 7:00am to 1:00pm.

The gift shop in the lobby at Miller Dwan Auxiliary will be open on Nov. 5 from 8:00am to 5:00pm, and on Nov. 6 from 8:00am to 1:00pm.

The St. Mary’s Auxiliary in Superior will have a back sale in the first floor Community room from 9:00am to 3:00pm on November 6.

St. Luke’s Hospital is having a similar sale at it’s gift shop.

Holiday themed items and gifts are being sold.

Profits will benefit the hospital’s volunteer guild, and help pay for patient comfort programs and extra hospital equipment.

“We give to the different departments as they request special items that are not necessarily in the hospital’s budget,” explains volunteer Shirley Kaczmark.

“Some of our patients would not have the comfort they would require or would like and that is one of the biggest reasons for doing the fundraisers,” Kaczmark said.

St. Luke’s holiday sale will be in its gift shop on the second floor kicked off Thursday, and will continue on Nov. 6 from 7:30am to 4:30pm.
