Police Investigating after Dead Horse Found in Superior
A woman was arrested in Superior after police found a dead horse and several malnourished animals in a trailer.
According to Sheila Keup with the Douglas Humane Society, the 60-year-old Michigan woman was stopped by police around 3 p.m. Thursday.
Police found a dead horse in the trailer, and five others that were extremely dehydrated and malnourished, along with three dogs and two cats in the same condition.
The animals are in the care of the Douglas County Humane Society.
The woman was arrested and is being held without bond in the Douglas County Jail while police investigate.
There is no word yet on what caused the horse’s death.
The humane society says they are seeking donations to help care for the animals after the unexpected take-in.
