An evening with Lance Mackey was sold out Saturday night with the money benefiting the Beargrease race. and for those who might not know who Lance is, think Michael Jordan of the sled dog world.

The night included a special screening of the award winning documentary on Lance’s life, a silent auction and a chance to meet Lance in person.

Lance brought his tour to Duluth for the only non–festival showing of his movie in support of the sled dog race.

“This is just a way for myself to be a part of the racing community. I want to support all of the races and see them survive, if this is a way i can be a part of it then i’m all in,” said Lance Mackey.

The Beargrease is the longest sled dog race in the lower 48 states and it takes 500 volunteers every year to ensure the event runs.

Though Lance has never raced in Beargrease, he said he hopes to participate in the nearly 400 mile race… that is if he’s tough enough.
