Germany, Netherlands Soccer Game Canceled; Stadium Evacuated

A stadium in Germany was evacuated Tuesday after a suspicious object was found at the stadium.

The evacuation forced a soccer match between Germany and the Netherlands to be canceled.

Authorities canceled the soccer game due to a bomb threat.

The stadium was evacuated about an hour and a half before kickoff.  Many fans were still waiting outside to get in.

Officials stepped up security ahead of the game.

Police armed with machine guns surrounded the stadium.

Patrons were searched while a K-9 dog was used to check bags.

German Government officials, including Chancellor Angela Merkel were scheduled to attend the event in a show of solidarity with France and to let others know that Germany will not bow down in the wake of the Paris terrorist attacks.
