St. Paul Woman Charged with Infant Son’s Murder

A St. Paul woman has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of her infant son.

22-year-old Shwe Htoo crashed her car into a light pole Wednesday morning near Como Regional Park in St. Paul.

When police arrived, they found her 5-week-old son, Michael Htoo, unresponsive.

A death investigation was launched.  Investigators determined the child died of asphyxiation before the crash.

Htoo allegedly told officers she tried to poison herself and the baby the night before.  When that didn’t work, she said she suffocated him and intentionally crashed her car.

Htoo is being held in the Ramsey County Jail.
