Wisconsin Kicks Off Gun Deer Season
Saturday Begins Gun Season in Wisconsin
Wisconsin’s hunters will be in the woods this Saturday for the nine day season and according to state wild life officials it should be a good deer hunting year for those heading out.
Hunters around Wisconsin are getting prepared for Saturday. Northwest outlet said they haven’t sold this many licenses in years.
“Everybody’s excited we’ve had probably over a hundred people in here buying licenses this morning. So everybody’s getting out, they’re headed to the shack and they’re going to have a good time,” said Scott Miller, assistant manager.
There will be some small changes this year, with the biggest change coming when you go to register your deer.
This year Wisconsin is following what other states have been doing which is going completely paperless.
“It’s going to save people a lot of time having to pack up the deer, and take it in to the station have it looked at, weighed and all that stuff. It’s going to be a lot more streamlined and they’re not going to have to take the extra hour, two hours that it usually would take to run it to the station,” said Miller.
The entire process can now be completed over the phone or internet. There will also be in person registration stations provided by the DNR.
