Data Breach Hits Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells

A data breach may have impacted guests at the Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells who used their debit or credit card for hotel reservations and onsite purchases earlier this year.

The Wilderness Resort announced Monday that with the help of investigators, they found that someone had placed a “sophisticated malware” on the resort’s computer system used to process credit and debit cards.

The data breach might impact anyone who used a debit or credit card to pay for or place a reservation, or to make purchases at onsite food and beverage outlets, attractions and retail locations between March 9, 2015 and June 8, 2015.

Cardholder data that may be at risk includes name, credit card number, expiration date and the security code.

The resort says they have implemented extra security measures to prevent any further unauthorized access.

The Wilderness Resort is offering one free year of credit monitoring to guests  who provided their card information or used their card at the resort.
